Amazon Route 53 is AWS's scalable and highly available Domain Name System (DNS) web service, used to register domain names, route internet traffic to resources, and check the health of application endpoints. Named after the standard DNS port 53, it's used by developers and network administrators to manage domain routing, implement failover strategies, and perform traffic management like latency-based or geolocation routing. It integrates tightly with other AWS services such as CloudFront, ELB, and S3.
