Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a form of psychotherapy, developed by Steven Hayes, that combines mindfulness and acceptance strategies with behavior-change techniques to help people live according to their values rather than avoiding difficult thoughts and feelings. Rather than trying to eliminate negative emotions, ACT teaches clients to accept them while committing to actions aligned with what matters most to them.
