# New Postings Rise 3% to 9,497, While 11,717 Roles Closed *October 10, 2026, by Ben Garves* Employers closed 11,717 roles over the past seven days and opened 9,497. That is 2,220 more closures than new roles, and it happened in a week when new postings rose slightly: 9,497 against 9,223 the week before, a gain of 3%. Both figures come from the employer job boards Career App crawls plus roles posted directly on the site, not the whole labor market. Remote work barely registered in the new batch. Only 4% of roles opened this week were posted as remote. ## Where the new roles landed [California](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/california) took the largest share with 789 new roles, down from 919. [Texas](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/texas) followed with 614, then [Florida](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/florida) at 468 and [New York](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-york) at 463. All four posted fewer than the week before, and New York fell furthest, from 632, a 27% drop. The steepest jump belongs to [Tennessee](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/tennessee): 261 new roles against 140 a week earlier, up 86%. Plenty of other states saw openings this week; these are simply the twelve with the most. ## Who posted the most [AdventHealth](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/adventhealth) posted 611 new roles, more than any other employer and well clear of second place. It now carries 978 open listings, meaning about six in ten of its current openings went up in the last seven days. [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target) added 330 of its 808 open roles, [Accenture](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/accenture) 328 of 778, and [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats) 290 of 737. [Product Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/product-manager) sits at $250,000 on 297 listings and [Software Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/software-engineer) at $244,800, the deepest sample at 1,033 listings.
