# Indiana Added 187 New Roles This Week, Up From 131 a Week Earlier

*October 12, 2026, by Ben Garves*

[Indiana](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/indiana) picked up 187 new roles this week across the employer job boards Career App tracks, against 131 the week before. That is 56 more roles and a 42.7% rise, and it happened in a week when the overall count went the other way.

## The rest of the week went down

New roles across every state came to 8,647 this week, compared with 8,932 the week before. That is a drop of 285 roles, or 3.2%. The comparison counts only boards we were already reading before the comparison window opened, so a board we added recently cannot inflate either side of it.

So Indiana's gain is not a smaller slice of a rising tide. Of the twelve states with the most new roles this week, seven posted fewer than they did a week earlier, including California (795, down from 927), New York (441, down from 639) and Illinois (199, down from 266). Five went up.

Ohio added the most roles in raw terms, 65, moving from 223 to 288. Indiana added 56. But measured against its own prior week, Indiana moved further than any other state on the list: 42.7%, ahead of [Ohio](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/ohio) at 29.1%, [Massachusetts](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/massachusetts) at 22.3% and [Georgia](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/georgia) at 21.7%. [Michigan](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/michigan) was close to flat, 236 against 229.

## Who is posting

Our employer counts this week are site-wide rather than broken out by state, so the names below describe the heaviest posters overall, not a roster of Indiana hiring.

- [AdventHealth](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/adventhealth): 611 new roles, 978 open
- [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target): 330 new, 808 open
- [Accenture](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/accenture): 328 new, 778 open
- [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats): 296 new, 747 open
- [Meijer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/meijer): 272 new, 652 open
- [Cleveland Clinic](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/cleveland-clinic): 225 new, 887 open

Health systems and large-format retail dominate the top of that list. [Lifepoint Hospitals](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/lifepoint-hospitals) added 176 new roles against 348 open, and [JLL](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/jll) added 214 against 335 open. The occupation breakdown did not produce a usable ranking this week, so there is no occupation-level read to put next to Indiana's 187.

## The wider picture

The job search holds 59,858 open listings today from 680 employers hiring. Over the last seven days, 8,647 roles opened and 10,369 closed. Those two figures compare directly: copies of one job on one employer board count once, and a role counts as closed when its last copy leaves the board. Closures lag by roughly a week, since we record one when we next re-read the board.

Remote work accounted for 5% of new roles this week.

One week of state-level movement is a small base, and 187 roles is a modest number next to California's 795. The point is the direction: Indiana's new-role count rose by nearly half while the overall count slipped, and it was the only state on this week's leaders list to move that far.
