# Colorado Postings Jumped 64% This Week While the National Week Was Flat | Career App Daily

*September 4, 2026, by Ben Garves*

[Colorado](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/colorado) opened **159 new roles** this week across the employer job boards we track, up from **97** the week before. That is a 63.9% increase — the largest week-over-week percentage gain of any state in our data, and it happened in a week when the national number barely moved.

Across all boards we track, **9,863** roles were posted in the last seven days versus **9,824** the week before: a gain of 39 postings, or 0.4%. So Colorado's 62 extra postings account for more than the entire national increase on their own — other states gave some of it back.

## Colorado is still the smallest of the twelve states we see openings in

Context matters here. Our crawl currently shows openings in 12 states, and Colorado's 159 new roles put it 12th of the 12. The gain is real but the base is small, and a single employer board refreshing its listings can move a number that size. Treat this as a one-week move, not a trend.

For scale, the week's top four states by new postings:

- [California](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/california): 901 new, up from 786
- [New York](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-york): 541, up from 343
- [Texas](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/texas): 519, up from 469
- [Florida](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/florida): 382, up from 271

Colorado's share of the national week rose from 0.99% to 1.61%.

The declines are worth naming too, because they explain why the national total went nowhere. [Massachusetts](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/massachusetts) fell from 340 new postings to 205, [Ohio](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/ohio) from 282 to 208, and [Pennsylvania](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/pennsylvania) from 185 to 161. [Minnesota](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/minnesota) went the other way, from 110 to 167.

## What we cannot tell you

The brief for this piece asked which employers and occupations drove Colorado's week. Our weekly leaderboards are national, not state-split, and this week's occupation leaderboard came back empty — so we are not going to name a cause we cannot see in the data. What we can say is which employers posted the most roles anywhere on the boards we track this week:

- [AdventHealth](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/adventhealth): 416 new, 964 open
- [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats): 363 new, 718 open
- [Cleveland Clinic](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/cleveland-clinic): 319 new, 903 open
- [Citigroup](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/citigroup): 299 new, 511 open
- [Tyson Foods](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/tyson-foods): 295 new, 573 open
- [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target): 292 new, 616 open

Rounding out the top ten: [U.S. Bank](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/u-s-bank) (241 new, 941 open), [NVIDIA](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/nvidia) (221, 817), [Accenture](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/accenture) (216, 644) and [Boeing](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/boeing) (196, 585). None of those counts are Colorado-specific. If you want the Colorado slice, the [state page](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/colorado) is the place to look, not this list.

## The wider board is shrinking, not growing

One number keeps the Colorado headline in proportion. In the last seven days we recorded **9,863** new postings and **18,282** closed ones, against **56,949** open listings from **691** employers hiring. Roles came off the boards roughly twice as fast as they went on. A 64% jump in one small state sits inside a market that is contracting in total inventory.

Remote work stayed marginal: **5%** of new postings this week were remote.

On pay, our salary medians are national and pooled by occupation, not by state, so they say nothing about Colorado specifically. For reference, the deepest pool is [Software Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/software-engineer) at a $240,000 median across 1,168 listings with employer-posted ranges, annualized to USD. [Machine Learning Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/machine-learning-engineer) is higher at $283,500 but on only 106 listings — a thin pool, and one bad week of postings would move it.

Week-over-week comparisons here exclude boards we added recently, so onboarding a new employer never reads as a hiring boom. More on [how we crawl employer boards](https://career.thegoodapps.co/bot).
