# Analytics Engineer Posted Median Jumps to $220,000 — On Just 7 Listings

*September 20, 2026, by Ben Garves*

The posted median for [Analytics Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/analytics-engineer) roles on the boards we track sits at **$220,000** over the last 30 days, up from **$155,000** in the 30 days before that. That is a $65,000 move, or about 42%.

Before anyone reprices a job search around it: each window contains **seven** listings with a usable salary range. Seven now, seven before. That is one of the smallest pools in our salary-move set, and at that size a single well-paid senior req can drag the median five figures in either direction.

All figures here are employer-posted pay ranges, annualized to USD (hourly converted at 2,080 hours). They are what employers printed on the job ad, not what anyone reported earning.

## The one clean thing about this comparison

Most of the movers in our 30-day salary file changed pool size along with price, which muddies the reading. [Program Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/program-manager) went from 88 priced listings to 14. [Sales Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/sales-manager) went from 102 to 25. [Manufacturing Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/manufacturing-engineer) went from 72 to 19. When the pool shrinks by 70% or more, you are largely looking at a different set of employers, not the same employers changing their minds.

Analytics Engineer is the exception: 7 listings then, 7 listings now. The composition still changed — different roles, different companies — but at least the sample size held steady, so the move is not an artifact of the pool collapsing.

It is also the second-largest percentage gain among the eight occupations with a tracked 30-day move, behind Manufacturing Engineer's jump from $156,000 to $230,000. Five of the eight moved down, including [Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/engineer) (from $179,545 to $90,750 on 14 then 5 listings) and [Lawyer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/lawyer) (from $280,000 to $220,000 on 35 then 8).

## Where $220,000 sits against bigger pools

Analytics Engineer does not have enough priced listings to appear in our main posted-salary-by-occupation table, where the smallest entry carries 124 listings. But the neighborhood is worth knowing.

![Posted medians in the same neighborhood](https://career.thegoodapps.co/posts/visuals/fae6c13d-ff8c-4214-be44-a3b858ae0374.png)

At $220,000, the current Analytics Engineer median lands below [Software Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/software-engineer) at $240,000 across 1,294 priced listings, and well below [Machine Learning Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/machine-learning-engineer) at $272,800 across 124. The prior window's $155,000 would have placed it closer to [Financial Analyst](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/financial-analyst) at $165,000 across 125 listings. So the move is roughly a jump from analyst-tier posted pay to software-engineer-tier posted pay — on a sample of seven.

## The hiring side is quiet, adjacent hiring is not

Analytics Engineer did not crack the top occupations by new postings this week. The closest adjacent title did: [Data Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/data-engineer) logged 11 new postings this week against 2 the prior week, one of the sharper week-over-week jumps in the top twelve, though from a small base.

The underlying skills keep showing up. [Python](https://career.thegoodapps.co/skills/python) led all skills with 91 new postings this week, [SQL](https://career.thegoodapps.co/skills/sql) tied for second at 56 alongside [Microsoft Excel](https://career.thegoodapps.co/skills/microsoft-excel) and [Salesforce](https://career.thegoodapps.co/skills/salesforce), and [Data Analysis](https://career.thegoodapps.co/skills/data-analysis) drew 24. That is the toolkit these roles ask for, and demand for it is not confined to a handful of titles.

For scale, the boards we track carried 58,042 open listings from 686 employers, with 10,817 new postings this week against 6,610 the prior week. Analytics Engineer is a rounding error inside that — which is exactly why its salary median moves the way it does.

Watch it again in 30 days. If the median holds near $220,000 on a comparable or larger pool, it is a level. If it snaps back toward $155,000, the last window was seven ads, not a trend. You can follow the day-by-day picture on [US hiring trends](https://career.thegoodapps.co/trends).
