# 18,282 Roles Closed and 9,863 Opened This Week Across the Boards We Track | Career App Daily *September 4, 2026, by Ben Garves* The loudest number this week isn't hiring — it's the churn on the other side. Across the employer job boards we track, **18,282 listings closed in the last seven days** while **9,863 opened**. That's close to two roles coming down for every one going up. That doesn't mean the market shrank by 8,419 jobs. Boards close listings for lots of reasons — a role gets filled, a requisition expires, a posting gets reworded and reposted. But it is a real measure of how fast the open pool is turning over. Flat. That comparison covers only boards we were already tracking before the comparison window began, so boards we onboarded recently don't show up as a fake hiring surge. Remote was **5% of new postings**. The sharper move was [New York](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-york): 541 new, against 343 a week earlier — a jump of 198. [Florida](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/florida) added 111 (382 from 271), [Colorado](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/colorado) 62 (159 from 97), and [Minnesota](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/minnesota) 57 (167 from 110). Two states went the other way. [Massachusetts](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/massachusetts) fell to 205 new from 340, and [Ohio](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/ohio) to 208 from 282. [Pennsylvania](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/pennsylvania) slipped slightly, 161 from 185. [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats) was second with 363 new against 718 open — the highest new-to-open ratio in the top ten, meaning about half its current board went up this week. [Cleveland Clinic](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/cleveland-clinic) added 319 (903 open) and [Citigroup](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/citigroup) 299 (511 open). After that: [Tyson Foods](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/tyson-foods) 295, [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target) 292, [U.S. Bank](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/u-s-bank) 241 (on 941 open, the second-largest board in the group), [NVIDIA](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/nvidia) 221, [Accenture](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/accenture) 216 and [Boeing](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/boeing) 196. Together those ten account for 2,858 new listings — 29% of the week's total from 10 of 691 hiring employers. Health systems, a boat manufacturer, two banks, a grocer-adjacent retailer, a meat processor, a chipmaker, a consultancy and an aerospace firm. No single sector owned the week. ## What pays, where employers state a number One caveat first: our occupation and skill tagging for this week came back empty, so we can't say which job titles or named skills drove the 9,863. [Engineering Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/engineering-manager) sits at $280,000 across 213 listings. [Software Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/software-engineer) is the deepest pool by far at 1,168 listings with a $240,000 median, and [Product Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/product-manager) is a hair above it at $240,083 on 325. The spread inside sales is the widest gap here: [Account Executive](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/account-executive) posts a $196,900 median on 178 listings and [Sales Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/sales-manager) $176,850 on 124, while [Sales Representative](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/sales-representative) sits at $79,250 on 158. [Mechanical Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/mechanical-engineer) ($192,500, 106 listings), [Marketing Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/marketing-manager) ($179,000, 104) and [Financial Analyst](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/financial-analyst) ($165,000, 104) round out the list — all small pools.
