# 10,339 Roles Opened and 10,997 Closed This Week Across the Boards We Track *October 2, 2026, by Ben Garves* New postings rose 15% this week, and closings still outnumbered them. Across the employer job boards Career App crawls, 10,339 roles opened in the last seven days, up from 8,979 the week before, a gain of about 15%. Over the same seven days, 10,997 roles closed. Remote work stayed scarce in the new batch: about 4% of this week's openings were posted as remote. The sharper moves came behind it. [New York](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-york) went from 410 to 640 and [Tennessee](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/tennessee) from 158 to 246, both up 56%, the steepest climbs in the group. [Florida](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/florida) rose 49%, 377 to 562, and [Illinois](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/illinois) 48%, 200 to 296. [Texas](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/texas) rose 14%, 702 against 615. [Michigan](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/michigan) slipped to 251 from 274 and [Ohio](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/ohio) to 294 from 353. [North Carolina](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/north-carolina) held steady at 227 after 221, [Arizona](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/arizona) rose 50% to 223, [Pennsylvania](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/pennsylvania) reached 237 and Massachusetts 223. ## Ten employers posted a third of the week ![Employers posting the most new roles](https://career.thegoodapps.co/posts/visuals/4d8a767e-576f-4b7b-8968-623ea6c92907.png) [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target) alone accounted for 986 new listings, nearly a tenth of everything that opened, and it holds 1,069 open roles, meaning almost its entire open pool is fresh this week. Health systems made up much of the rest: [AdventHealth](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/adventhealth) added 577 new against 964 open, [Lifepoint Hospitals](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/lifepoint-hospitals) 226 of 345, and [Cleveland Clinic](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/cleveland-clinic) 215 of a larger 853 open. [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats) posted 322, [U.S. Bank](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/u-s-bank) 318 on top of 1,015 open, [Meijer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/meijer) 263, [Citigroup](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/citigroup) 256, [Tyson Foods](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/tyson-foods) 209 and [Longs Drugs](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/longs-drugs) 205. Together those ten boards produced 3,577 new listings, about a third of the week's total. [Account Executive](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/account-executive) posts a $220,000 median on 161 listings, while [Sales Representative](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/sales-representative) sits far below the rest at $75,914 on 143. [Mechanical Engineer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/mechanical-engineer) comes in at $188,000, [Marketing Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/marketing-manager) at $178,000, [Sales Manager](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/sales-manager) at $175,000 and [Financial Analyst](https://career.thegoodapps.co/occupations/financial-analyst) at $170,000.
