# 10,338 Roles Opened and 20,412 Closed This Week Across the Boards We Track | Career App Daily

Two listings closed for every one that opened this week. Across the employer job boards we track, **20,412 roles came down in the last seven days** while 10,338 went up — and the open pool still stands at 57,599 listings from 685 employers hiring.

That sounds worse than it is for anyone applying to jobs. New postings were up sharply: 10,338 this week against 7,182 the week before, a gain of about 44%. Over a longer window the direction holds — 31,248 new roles in the last 30 days versus 26,351 in the prior 30, up roughly 19%. Comparisons exclude boards we added mid-window, so onboarding a large employer never reads as a hiring boom.

Employer boards purge in batches, and a week with a big expiry sweep can retire far more listings than it adds without any change in hiring intent. Watch the new-postings line for signal; watch the closed line to understand why the open pool moves the way it does.

## Where the new roles landed

Twelve states carried openings this week. [California](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/california) led with 798 new roles, up from 613 a week earlier, followed by [Texas](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/texas) at 563 and [New York](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-york) at 475 — both up more than half over the prior week.

The steepest jumps came further down the list. [Pennsylvania](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/pennsylvania) went from 101 new roles to 261. [New Jersey](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/new-jersey) roughly doubled, 98 to 213, as did [Colorado](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/colorado) at 95 to 194 and [Michigan](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/michigan) at 114 to 219. The one flat spot was [Tennessee](https://career.thegoodapps.co/jobs/in/tennessee): 232 new roles this week against 230 last week, essentially unchanged while everything around it climbed.

Those twelve states together account for 4,030 of the week's 10,338 new listings. The rest are roles we have not resolved to a single state — multi-site postings and listings without a clean location field.

## Who posted the most

[AdventHealth](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/adventhealth) put up 669 new roles this week, the most of any employer on the boards we track, out of 992 open. [Merck](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/merck) followed with 368 new against 584 open, and [U.S. Bank](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/u-s-bank) added 315 on top of the largest open pool in the top ten at 1,007.

Retail and food showed up in force: [Target](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/target) at 301 new, [Meijer](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/meijer) at 269, [Tyson Foods](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/tyson-foods) at 223, and [Longs Drugs](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/longs-drugs) at 210 — the last of which has 214 open listings total, meaning nearly its entire board turned over this week. [Citigroup](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/citigroup) posted 289, [Stryker Corporation](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/stryker-corporation) 262, and [Ranger Boats](https://career.thegoodapps.co/organizations/ranger-boats) 237.

The top ten employers account for 3,143 new roles, about 30% of everything that opened this week. Concentration like that means a single company's posting cycle can swing the weekly total.

## Remote, occupations and skills

Remote roles were **4% of new postings** this week. With healthcare systems, grocery, food processing and bank branches driving the volume, that is about what the employer mix implies — these are jobs with a physical site attached.
