## What We Do

Piedmont Natural Gas is a natural gas distribution utility founded in 1950 that serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers in North Carolina and South Carolina (it exited its Tennessee service territory via a sale to Spire). It has operated as a wholly owned business unit of Duke Energy since Duke's $4.9 billion acquisition of the company closed in 2016, while retaining its own brand and Charlotte headquarters.
