## What We Do

Merit Network is a nonprofit, member-governed organization providing high-performance computer networking and cybersecurity services to educational institutions, government agencies, healthcare providers, and nonprofits, primarily in Michigan. Founded in 1966 by three Michigan universities, it operates the longest continuously running regional computer network in the United States and helped manage the NSFNET backbone from 1987-1995.
