## Summary

PlanetScale seeks a Head of Events to build and execute a comprehensive events strategy for a developer-focused database platform, spanning owned conferences, sponsored events, and community activations. This role suits someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, thrives working with technical audiences, and can balance creative vision with measurable outcomes.

## Required

- 3+ years in events, experiential marketing, field marketing, Developer Relations, or developer community management with strategy and execution ownership
- Experience working with developer, engineering, or technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to manage event budgets and deliver measurable results
- Experience producing or significantly contributing to owned events, conference presence, executive dinners, meetups, and field activations
- Strong project management, vendor management, and stakeholder management skills
- Frequent travel, often 30%+ depending on calendar
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for events
- Work from San Francisco office at least 3 days per week

## Nice to have

- Prior experience in developer tools, infrastructure, or databases
- Background in Developer Relations or developer community building
- Experience with hybrid or digital-first event formats
- Existing relationships in the developer conference and events ecosystem
- Comfort creating or guiding technical storytelling and working closely with DevRel and Product
