- Valid U.S. driver's license with clean driving record in past year
- Pass comprehensive criminal history check
- Pass credit check and not be in default on federal student loans
- Male applicants must be registered with Selective Service
- Pass polygraph examination
- Pass medical examination
- Pass psychological examination
- Pass Physical Readiness Test (300-meter run, push-ups, 1.5-mile run)
- Pass full background investigation including employment, residential, and personal references
- Successfully complete all required training
- Successfully complete probationary period
