Target seeks a Principal Engineer to lead the architecture and strategy of their enterprise machine learning operations platform, enabling hundreds of engineers and data scientists to build, deploy, and govern AI solutions at scale. This role suits a technology leader with deep platform engineering expertise who enjoys influencing strategy, mentoring senior engineers, and solving complex infrastructure challenges.

## Required

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field
- Experience designing and delivering large-scale cloud-native platforms or distributed systems
- Deep experience building and operating enterprise machine learning platforms
- Strong understanding of machine learning lifecycle management and production operations
- Experience with machine learning platforms such as Vertex AI, Kubeflow, MLflow, or equivalent
- Experience building developer platforms or internal platform products
- Expertise designing Kubernetes-based platforms for AI and machine learning workloads
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and leading enterprise-scale modernization initiatives
- Strong software engineering fundamentals including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability

## Nice to have

- Experience with distributed training and large-scale inference platforms
- Experience with feature management and responsible AI practices
- Familiarity with Generative AI platforms and foundation model infrastructure
- Experience with Terraform, GitOps, and service mesh technologies
