## Summary

This role owns the automation systems that build and maintain Chainguard's hardened container images, combining infrastructure work with AI-powered tooling to reduce manual effort as the company scales. You'll be a hands-on contributor designing systems for package orchestration, LLM-integrated pipelines, and quality gates, working on a small focused team where your technical input directly shapes what gets built.

## Required

- 5-7 years software engineering experience designing complex systems
- Strong Go expertise
- AI/LLM integration experience for code generation or automation
- Systems architecture design and scalability
- Developer tools, CLI, or automation platform experience
- Deep Linux and build systems knowledge including package managers and containerization tools
- Container ecosystem expertise with Docker, OCI, and Kubernetes
- Strong written communication and async collaboration across time zones
- Based in US or Canada

## Nice to have

- Linux distribution experience (Wolfi, Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.)
- Large-scale production service maintenance
- Open source contributions
- Software supply chain security knowledge (SBOM, provenance, signing)
- Experience with melange, apko, or Wolfi
- Compliance frameworks knowledge (FedRAMP, FIPS, STIG)
