- 10+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems and distributed architectures
- Deep experience designing and modeling complex distributed systems with well-reasoned architectural trade-offs
- Proven "you build it, you run it" culture: on-call participation and incident response for systems you've built
- Experience with high-throughput, high-availability systems at scale
- Expert-level understanding of observability: instrumentation, dashboards, alerting, and telemetry-driven decisions
- Systematic, data-driven troubleshooting of production issues
- Experience decoupling tightly-coupled systems such as monolith migrations or extracting shared services
- Proficiency in event-driven architecture, domain-driven design, and modern API design patterns
- Mastery of CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
- Ability to communicate technical complexity to non-technical partners and write technical documentation
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams

## Nice to have
