Anthropic's Data Infrastructure team is hiring a Staff+ engineer to design and operate secure, scalable data systems that support company-wide analytics, financial reporting, and access control. This role suits experienced infrastructure engineers who thrive solving complex challenges across cloud storage, data warehousing, and security at petabyte scale.

## Required

- 10+ years of software engineering experience building data infrastructure, storage systems, or distributed systems
- 3+ years leading large-scale complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead
- Ability to set technical direction for a team
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar programming languages
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud platforms
- Navigate technical tradeoffs between performance, cost, security, and maintainability
- Strong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders

## Nice to have

- Experience with security and compliance requirements (ITGC, GDPR, financial controls)
- Background in data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, or analytics infrastructure
- Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture experience
- Track record of improving data reliability, availability, or cost efficiency at scale
- Knowledge of column-oriented databases, OLAP systems, or big data processing frameworks
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated industries
- Security engineering background focused on data protection and access controls
