- USCG 3rd Mates Unlimited Tonnage endorsement or Bachelor's degree in maritime field
- Merchant Mariner Credential with Officer In Charge of Navigational Watch endorsement
- Able Seafarer - Deck endorsement
- Rating Forming Part Of A Navigational Watch endorsement
- GMDSS Operator endorsement
- Proficiency In Survival Craft & Rescue Boats certification
- Advanced Oil Tanker Cargo Operations certification
- Medical First-Aid Provider certification
- Advanced Fire Fighting certification
- Vessel Personnel With Designated Security Duties certification
- Security Awareness certification
- Radar Observer endorsement
- Able Seaman Unlimited endorsement
- Lifeboatman endorsement
- Tankerman PIC endorsement
- U.S. Passport
- Transportation Workers Identification Card
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time
- Willing to be away from home for more than two months at a time
- Able to push/pull up to 200 pounds
- Able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds floor to shoulder
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds floor to overhead

- 1+ years direct cadet experience on tanker/ship
