## Summary

Principal-level role leading the architectural redesign of a large microservices platform as it scales from dozens to hundreds of independent cell-based deployments across regions and cloud models. You'll design and build the service-side patterns, configuration frameworks, and shared libraries that enable this transformation, working across hundreds of services in multiple languages while mentoring senior engineers and raising architectural standards.

## Required

- Deep hands-on architecture experience with large microservice estates of hundreds of services
- Strong proficiency in Java and Python
- Track record decomposing large service estates into independently evolving sub-systems
- Proven experience designing for horizontal scalability across regions and independent deployments
- Experience with cell-based, multi-tenant, or multi-region architectures
- Strong cloud-native background with Kubernetes and containers
- AWS experience
- Experience externalizing configuration and removing environment coupling from application code
- Demonstrated ability to land significant changes in code owned by other teams
- Track record of identifying architectural limits before they cause incidents
- Ability to design, lead, influence and deliver on ambitious technical roadmaps

## Nice to have

- Experience with Vespa
- Experience with private, isolated, on-premise or air-gapped deployments
- Design and stewardship of shared libraries or internal frameworks used by many teams
