## Required

- Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- GS-05 or higher current grade (for merit promotion applicants), or equivalent professional experience
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts and principles
- Ability to apply mechanical engineering practices to design and project work
- Knowledge of construction practices, design standards, and compliance requirements
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally

## Nice to have

- Graduate-level education in mechanical engineering or related field
- Experience with state and local building codes and utility regulations
- Familiarity with architectural and other engineering disciplines
- Experience in facilities operations and maintenance
