Swimrun is a multisport endurance race that alternates between trail running and open-water swimming legs, often many times over a single course, with athletes wearing the same gear (wetsuit, shoes) throughout and carrying any swim aids like pull buoys or hand paddles. It originated in Sweden in the early 2000s with the ÖtillÖ race across the Stockholm archipelago and has since grown into an international sport known for its rugged, self-sufficient format.
