Rowing is a sport in which one or more athletes propel a narrow boat, or shell, across water using oars, either sculling with two oars each or sweep rowing with one oar per rower. It is practiced competitively at levels from school and club crews to the Olympics, and it draws participants for its demanding full-body conditioning and the teamwork required to keep a crew synchronized.
