# Heptathlon

The heptathlon is a combined track and field event, most commonly contested by women, consisting of seven disciplines held over two days: the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200m on day one, and long jump, javelin throw, and 800m on day two. Performances in each event are converted into points using a scoring table, and the athlete with the highest total wins, making it a test of all-around speed, strength, and endurance. It is a marquee Olympic and World Championships event, with Jackie Joyner-Kersee among its most famous champions.
