# Double Dutch

Double Dutch is a jump-rope activity in which two long ropes are turned in opposite, alternating directions while one or more jumpers hop between and over them in rhythm. Originating as a street game (with deep roots in African American and New York City jump-rope culture), it has evolved into a competitive sport with choreographed freestyle routines, speed events, and organized leagues.
