# Czech Handball

Czech handball (česká házená) is a team sport native to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, played on a smaller field than international handball with seven players per side who pass and bounce a ball toward a goal. It developed in the early 20th century as one of several regional handball codes before the seven-a-side international game became standardized, and it survives today mainly as a domestic league sport with a dedicated following in its home countries.
