Combined typically refers to Nordic Combined, a Winter Olympic sport pairing ski jumping with cross-country skiing, where an athlete's ski jump distance and style determine their starting position (and time gap) in the subsequent cross-country race. It's one of the oldest Nordic skiing disciplines, historically dominated by Scandinavian and Central European athletes, and tests a rare combination of jumping technique and distance-running endurance. The term can also refer to combined events in other sports, such as the alpine skiing combined, which merges downhill and slalom runs.
