Chess boxing is a hybrid sport that alternates rounds of chess with rounds of boxing, typically starting and ending with chess, with a competitor able to win by checkmate, knockout, technical decision, or the opponent running out of time on the chess clock. Founded in the early 2000s and inspired by a French comic book, it tests both mental composure under physical exhaustion and physical toughness under mental pressure.
